Avolon, an Irish aircraft leasing company, has made headlines today with a substantial order for 250 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing.
The impressive order includes 110 Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft, 35 A330-900 aircraft, and 75 A320neo family aircraft, along with options for an additional 100 aircraft. With this deal, Avolon’s commitments now total 114 A330-900s, positioning it as the world’s leading lessor for this aircraft type, and approximately 650 A320 family aircraft.
Avolon’s fleet currently includes 54 Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft.
“This is a major order for both the A330neo and the A320neo family, and we thank Avolon for its repeated endorsement of our products,”
said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business.

Avolon reacts to the strong demand for new-technology aircraft
Commenting on the order, Avolon CEO Andy Cronin stated,
“We continue to see strong demand for new-technology aircraft, reflected in our placement and trading activity this quarter. Against that backdrop, we are pleased to have reached agreements with Airbus and Boeing that strengthen and extend our long-term delivery pipeline. These orders further enhance our ability to support the future fleet requirements of our airline customers as they renew and expand their fleets into the most fuel-efficient technology available.”
The recent order significantly bolsters Avolon’s long-term fleet strategy, catering to the evolving needs of its airline customers. With this latest acquisition, the lessor’s total firm aircraft commitments have now reached an impressive 749 units, underscoring its robust position in the aviation leasing market.
However, it is important to note that these orders are contingent upon the approval of Bohai Leasing Co., Ltd., which holds a 70% stake in Avolon. Shareholder approval is anticipated before the conclusion of October 2026, a crucial step in finalizing this substantial commitment.
